But if a game controller or an external subwoofer for the iPhone decides to buy only specially rotated geeks, then a lot of people will probably want to buy a cheap charging cable, which is almost certainly counterfeit.
But this is a serious mistake that can lead to consequences.
According to a study by the medical journal Annals of Emergency Medicine, counterfeit charging cables spontaneously ignite and shock users much more often than certified ones. Doctors tested 400 uncertified iPhone cables from different manufacturers, of which 22 were damaged right during testing. Most of them did not meet safety requirements due to poor insulation, which created the possibility of electric shock.
The largest risk group for electric shocks and other problems associated with improper operation of counterfeit components are adolescents. It is they who most often put the smartphone on charge at night and put it next to the bed or directly on it. Doing so can exacerbate the self-ignition effects of such accessories, resulting in serious damage.
