IOS 14 news

9to5Mac looked at an early build of iOS 14 and found out that Apple is working on:

  • integration of the Neural Engine;
  • full support for Apple Pencil on web pages;
  • website translator in Safari browser.

The built-in translator will allow you to translate texts and navigation elements on sites without third-party applications. The function will be available both for automatic translation and when manually activated on each page. Safari will automatically detect the current language of the site, and will also allow you to switch between the translation and the original version without reloading the page.

All transfers will be processed locally using the Neural Engine, that is, they will not require access to the network, writes 9to5Mac. In the future, the function will extend to the entire system: you can translate, for example, the description and reviews of the application in the App Store.

9to5Mac also revealed that the iPadOS 14 update will bring full support for Apple Pencil input to websites, making it compatible not only for scrolling and touching, but also for drawing and marking up with all its capabilities in Safari and other browsers.

IOS 14 and iPadOS 14 will be unveiled at WWDC 2020, which kicks off online on June 22, sources say.
