The D4i Novo has four built-in dive modes. Air mode uses normal air for the dive, Nitrox mode uses one or two oxygen-nitrogen mixtures, and Gauge mode uses the unit as a dive timer. There is also a dedicated Freedive mode for breath-hold dives.
When the D4i Novo is operating in Nitrox mode, decompression can be accelerated by switching to a higher oxygen gas mixture. The device allows you to program two different breathing mixtures (with oxygen content from 21% to 99%) and to set PO2 values for each mixture. During the dive, you can easily and quickly switch from one mixture to another.
In Gauge mode, the D4i Novo acts as an underwater timer, collecting accurate dive profile data and allowing you to set bookmarks. If you are serious about breath-hold diving, the new Freedive mode gives you all the features you need. The D4i Novo collects and records extremely accurate data on the actual dive depth, recording the reading three times per second.
